Edge-on Spiral Galaxy NGC 253 jpeg, 54K
This spiral galaxy is nearly 'edge-on'; the plane of the spiral arms is almost parallel to the line of sight, and it makes the galaxy's dust lanes be seen clearly.
The distance between us and the galaxy is relatively close (about 8-10 million light years), and the apparent size of the galaxy is larger than the field of view of the CCD camera.

Active Galaxy M77 jpeg, 34K
This spiral galaxy Messier 77 (aka NGC1068, ARP37) is about 47 million light years away from the Earth. Though it is relatively distant galaxy, it can be seen with our 1m telescope, because of its active galactic nucleus.

"Ring Nebula" M57 jpeg, 39K
This is a representative of Planetary Nebula, The brightened gas emitted from a star(seen in the center of the ring). This nebula is relatively bright, and you can watch it in our public observation during summer.

Black-Eye galaxy M64 jpeg, 12K
This spiral galaxy, located in Coma, has a distinct dark lane. It looks like an eye. The distance between the galaxy and us is approximately 16 million light years.

Globular Cluster M13 jpeg, 58K
This representative globular cluster, comprise of several hundred thousand of stars, is in Hercules. Though the distance between us and the object is large (22 thousand Lightyears), it is rather easy to view with eyepiece. So this object is frequently selected as the target of our public star watching.

Supernova SN1998bu in M96 gif, 86K
On 9th May (UT), a Supernova was discoverd in the galaxy M96 located in Leo and named 'SN 1996bu'. Since the distance between the galaxy and us is relatively short, this supernova could be seen with 1m telescope of Toyama Astronomical Observatory for about a week.

M51, whirlpool galaxy jpeg, 36K
M51, a well-known starburst galaxy in Canes Venatici. which is 21 million light years away from the Earth.
(3rd Apr. 1998, RGB composite of 5 min. exposure for each band.)

M66, spiral galaxy jpeg, 11K
One of the spiral galaxies in Leo. 27 million lyrs.
(28th Apr. 1998, RGB composite of 10 min. exposure for each band.)

M104 jpeg, 11K
This spiral galaxy is well known as "sombrero galaxy". The distance between our Galaxy and it is about 46 millions lyrs.
(28th Apr. 1998, RGB composite of 10 min. exposure for each band.)
